Long ago, when Rama and his army were preparing to cross the ocean to Lanka, the seashore was filled with energy and determination.

One monkey smiled and said, “Little squirrel, what difference can a few grains of sand make?”

The squirrel paused for a moment.

Nearby, Hanuman noticed the tiny squirrel’s determination.

Then, with affection, Rama lovingly stroked the squirrel’s back with His fingers.

It is said that the three soft stripes seen on Indian squirrels today are the marks of Lord Rama’s loving touch.

The little squirrel’s eyes sparkled with happiness.

For the first time, she no longer felt small.

She felt important.

Valued.

Needed.

As the sun slowly set over the ocean, the bridge continued to rise across the waters.

Not built only by strength.
