5th month pregnancy diet chart
In the fifth month your baby is laying down bone and growing its brain quickly, and you will probably feel the first kicks. Calcium, vitamin D and omega-3 fats deserve a regular place on your plate. Many women also start noticing leg cramps and constipation, which food and fluids can ease.

Many families begin offering ghee-rich laddoos and dry-fruit mixes around now. These are fine in small amounts, but they are energy-dense; your extra needs are still modest. A handful of nuts, a glass of milk and a fish or paneer dish a few times a week usually do more for bones and brain than large sweet portions.
Nutrients to focus on in month 5
- Calcium: Baby's skeleton is hardening; aim for three servings of calcium foods daily.
- Vitamin D: Needed to use calcium. The NHS recommends 10 micrograms daily in pregnancy; many Indians are deficient.
- Omega-3 (DHA): Supports brain and eye development.
