How to use the jaap counter

  1. Choose a mantra. Pick a mantra from the list — its Devanagari text and transliteration appear on the counter.
  2. Set a target. Choose 11, 21, 27, 54, 108 or 1008 repetitions, or a custom number.
  3. Tap for each repetition. Tap anywhere on the large card, or press space or enter, once per repetition. The bead ring fills and each 108 adds a mala.
  4. Rest when you reach the target. A soft bell (if sound is on) marks the target. Sit quietly for a few breaths before resetting.

Keyboard: space or enter counts, backspace undoes the last bead. Sound and vibration are optional and remembered.

Is my count saved?

Lifetime totals are stored in your browser on this device. If you are signed in to Garbh Katha you can also save a session to your practice log.

Can I set a custom number like 21 or 1008?

Yes. Choose 11, 21, 27, 54, 108 or 1008, or set any custom number.

Can I turn off the sound or vibration?

Yes — both are optional toggles. Vibration works on phones that support it.
