Diet · Month 9 · Weeks 36–40
9th month pregnancy diet chart
In the ninth month the aim is steady energy, comfortable digestion and preparation for labour and feeding. Light, easily digested meals, plenty of fluids and continued iron and calcium are the basics. It is also a good time to plan simple, nourishing meals for the weeks after birth so that someone else can cook.

Indian tradition often prepares special postpartum foods such as ajwain water, methi laddoo, panjiri and gond. Many are nourishing but rich; they suit the weeks after birth better than the last weeks before. If you plan to breastfeed, keeping up fluids, protein and calcium in late pregnancy helps you start feeding with good reserves.
