Movement keeps the body supple and the mind calm. Prenatal yoga is a natural companion to Garbh Sanskar — practised gently and with your doctor's approval.

Gentle options

Walking, butterfly pose (baddha konasana), cat-cow, supported squats and side stretches are commonly taught in prenatal classes.

Breathing

Anulom vilom and bhramari (humming bee breath) are calming. Avoid breath retention and strong abdominal compression.

Safety first

Learn from a qualified prenatal teacher, avoid lying flat on your back for long in later pregnancy, and stop if anything feels uncomfortable.
