The short answer: whenever you can. Tradition suggests beginning even before conception, but starting at any week still brings calm and connection.

Before conception: Garbh Dharan Sanskar

Traditionally, couples prepare for three to six months before conceiving with healthy food, a calm routine and positive intentions. Today this pairs naturally with your doctor's preconception advice, such as folic acid.

First trimester

Start small: a story and slow breathing in the evening. Nausea and tiredness are common, so keep it gentle.

Second trimester

Baby begins to hear around weeks 18–25 — an ideal time to read aloud, chant, and invite your partner to talk to the bump.

Third trimester

Even late starts matter. Babies recognise voices and stories heard repeatedly in the final weeks.
